New Jersey Cosmetic Dentist Dr. Romano Supports US Troops
Edward Romano, DDS, a cosmetic dentist in New Jersey, first began donating essential items to the military when a family member enlisted and was sent to Afghanistan. Today, Dr. Romano says the donations continue to pour in thanks to an updated billboard in his office, and the overwhelming generosity of his patients.
At his New Jersey cosmetic dentistry practice, Dr. Edward Romano began donating essential items to troops abroad when a member of his family joined the Marine Corps and left for Afghanistan. Following the deployment of another family friend, Dr. Romano adopted a second Marine Corps unit. Since then, the practice maintains a billboard in the office with an updated list of essential items so patients can help New Jersey dentist Dr. Romano and Aesthetic Smiles of New Jersey continue to support U. S. troops.
Whether or not his patients believe in the mission, Dr. Romano says supporting the troops and their service to this country is of the utmost importance: “People honestly do not understand how much these guys miss their homes and how tough the job they do really is. They all have families praying for them and all want their sons and daughters to feel safe and feel as though home is not far away.” Dr. Romano says according to the many letters and emails his practice receives, he believes these packages provide this important connection for many troops.
Dr. Romano says the process is deceptively simple once a plan is in place. When patients bring in items listed on the office billboard, he packs the items and ships them to the various units the practice has adopted. “The great thing about the units is they are all brothers. They all share with each other so every package helps the entire unit.” While Dr. Romano says the process can be slow at times depending on the number of donations, the goal is to get packages out once a week to ensure a steady stream of items from home.
“My father was a 17 year old kid serving in the South Pacific during World War II. The items received from home were a major lifeline. I want those men and women serving today to know we are proud of them and grateful for their service.”
